Support for QUASSIC to develop as a peak organisation
Over the past year, QUASSIC has undertaken a significant advocacy effort directed towards the Queensland Government. Their objective has been to garner support for their transformation into a peak organization that can serve as a vital support system for other Australian South Sea Islander organizations across Queensland. Through diligent negotiations and persistent efforts, QUASSIC has achieved a noteworthy milestone. They have successfully secured funding from the Department of Multicultural Affairs Queensland, totaling $270,000 over a span of two years. This funding injection is earmarked for capacity building, a pivotal step in QUASSIC's journey to become a robust and effective advocate and resource for the broader Australian South Sea Islander community in Queensland.
Funding Activity Deliverables
The funding is for the following deliverables:
Engagemenl of a Contractor or QUASSIC Inc. stall member.
Contractor and employee roles will work towards building on the foundation activities of the organisation including establishing a QUASSIC Inc. office, developing a membership database establishing connections with other Australian South Sea Islander community organisations, overseeing major projects such as co-designed research and other work plan priorities, and s funding front a range of other sources to ensure the sustainability of the organisation.
Other eligible activities that will support QUASSIC's role as the recognised peak body of Queens Australian South Sea Islander organisations and a trusted source of advocacy and advice.
