Support for QUASSIC to develop as a peak organisation

Over the past year, QUASSIC has undertaken a significant advocacy effort directed towards the Queensland Government. Their objective has been to garner support for their transformation into a peak organization that can serve as a vital support system for other Australian South Sea Islander organizations across Queensland. Through diligent negotiations and persistent efforts, QUASSIC has achieved a noteworthy milestone. They have successfully secured funding from the Department of Multicultural Affairs Queensland, totaling $270,000 over a span of two years. This funding injection is earmarked for capacity building, a pivotal step in QUASSIC's journey to become a robust and effective advocate and resource for the broader Australian South Sea Islander community in Queensland.

Funding Activity Deliverables

The funding is for the following deliverables:

  • Engagemenl of a Contractor or QUASSIC Inc. stall member.

    • Contractor and employee roles will work towards building on the foundation activities of the organisation including establishing a QUASSIC Inc. office, developing a membership database establishing connections with other Australian South Sea Islander community organisations, overseeing major projects such as co-designed research and other work plan priorities, and s funding front a range of other sources to ensure the sustainability of the organisation.

  • Other eligible activities that will support QUASSIC's role as the recognised peak body of Queens Australian South Sea Islander organisations and a trusted source of advocacy and advice.
